Parking a domain at Google is a form of free website hosting that allows you to monetize your domain name. You go to your domain's registrar and direct your domain name's nameservers to the Google for Domains nameservers and Google provides limited content and a lot of ads on a parking page.
If you are not using your domain then it is a wasted resource. When you park the domain then you give people a chance to see your domain and you get a chance to make a few pennies. People will come to your unused domain for many reasons. It might be a previously in use domain that is still generating visits from when it was a live domain. People might type the name in instinctively thinking it is an appropriate source for information based on the name. People might mistype the name when looking for something else. Or, you might put up links directing people to visit the domain. The idea is that once people get there your site does not have what they are looking for and they turn to the ads on the page for their answer.
